March Madness Recap - Or why parents shouldn’t gamble

Child's Play x2 | April 1

For those who partake in NCAA basketball pools this weekend is supposed to be full of anticipation and excitement to see who will win it all (I’m talking about the pool, not the tournament). Our First Annual Blogfathers NCAA tournament pool, however, was rather sad. Not only did none of us pick the eventual National Champion, not one of us even had a team in the Championship game! No one had more than one Final Four team picked and over half of us didn’t even have one team in the Final Four. Perhaps this shows that having kids robs us of that portion of our brain that used to be able to comprehend sports.

Before I announce the winner (which I could have done last week) here, as a reminder, are the contenders.

Scott L.

The seven contestants who correctly picked one Final Four team are:

Eric - UCLA

Jonathan R. - UCLA

Kristie S. - Florida

Rob Fay - UCLA

Sarah - Florida

Scott L. - Florida

Daddy Drama - UCLA

One of these contestants rode their one pick to Victory. Put your hands together for the slightly-more-than-the-rest-of-us talented William P. from Daddy*Drama!

We’ll do this again next year and hopefully then the Final Four will actually mean something. And personally, I’m hoping George Mason won’t be playing.

4 beefs about March Madness Recap - Or why parents shouldn’t gamble

  1. I haven’t checked the standings in a while, for the obvious reasons (though I am glad I wasn’t in last place), but I have to say this.

This had to be the most day-is-night & night-is-day, dogs-and-cats-living-together, topsy-turvey NCAA tournament to ever be played.

In the sense of excitement, the tourney was awesome. But from a bracket-challenge perspective, I have to quote Comic Book Guy…

    Worst.Tournament.Ever.

  2. Yessir! I’m partially awesome!

  3. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to totally suck with.

But next year? I’m going to win this, baby. You watch. Because I’m going to let my kids fill in my brackets. They can’t do any worse than I did this year.

Thanks for organizing this, Matthew! (I mean that, I really do.)

  4. Congrats to our winner. And I look forward to next year.
