Children’s Adult Movie Reviews
Genuine | February 27I have not been able to live down the episode at the dinner table the other night so I have been ultra sensitive to what my children have been watching on television recently. My children love watching DVD’s and every time we head off to Costco for our latest check bouncing attempt, we let the kids pick out a new DVD, if they have not broken anything or hurt anyone in the store for the long period of shopping. Recently we have had a ration of birthdays and Christmas that has also added to the DVD collection.
I have heard the recent DVD Madagascar, but have never actually seen it. The reason is our Minivan has a DVD player that my children watch during the morning and evening commutes. I get to hear the movie over the speakers but have never actually watched the scenes associated with the dialogue. Yesterday we had some quality time to spend with the kids so asking them what they wanted to do, they indicated watch some DVD movies. Yeah, we are those kind of parents that let our kids choose the bad things to do as a family
I figured when they chose to watch Madagascar we would be safe and not have a situation where we have to deal with any f-bombs. Although I was correct there were no f-bombs, I did notice that in an attempt to make parents actually laugh at some of the scenes, they added some adult humor. I call it adult humor because most children wouldn’t understand the humor but parents would. I came to the scene where Marty and Alex see each other on the beach and as the run at each other Marty realizes that Alex is a little pissed, and turns shouting "Oh sugar, honey, iced tea". I of course laughed at the S-H-I-T spelling, and as I turned to my children to see their reaction they were looking at me at my moment of laughing. Now the scene has been highlighted as a scene Dad thinks is funny. I’m wondering when that one will come back to haunt me.
I also noticed a few other scenes that the movies use to be funny to the parents that might be improper for children yet they are hidden in the scenes. Of course, my son always comes up with the one liner quotes that my wife thinks is always my fault. I got the look again, when my son quotes the move line "Well, this sucks".
I suppose it’s time to return to the time of Mary Pop pins and other movies like "The Princess Diaries 2". Then of course I heard about the nude scene done by Anne Hathaway in the movie Havoc and Brokeback Mountain. Let’s just say my kids are not too sheltered. What is your favorite movie line?

“Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help! I’m being repressed!”
“Monty Python and the Holy Grail”
Actually, that whole movie has great lines, but that one is my favorite.
“Give him a break, he’s been mostly dead all day.”
The Princess Bride
Also full of great lines, but that’s one of my faves.
Ahh…the princess bride- good one resident.
I like the lion king: “a monkeys uncle”
My husband is a huge movie buff and because of that and his job our house is full of DVD’s and still my favorite is Christmas Vacation which has my two favorite quotes.
“Merry Christmas, The shitter was full”
and
“We’re gonna press on, and we’re going to have the hap hap happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight he’s going to find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse”
I’m not sure what this says about my sense of humor, but I LOVE this movie.
My current favorite line from a movie is…”Scotch,Scotch,Scotch…I Love Scotch.” and your really haven’t lived until you have heard your three year old walking around the house repeating the line over and over
“‘Ello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killeda my father. Prepare to die!” another classic from the “Princess Bride.”
Then of course there’s the classic line “Asssss hoooole” delivered by Little Jack in “Meet the Fockers.”
Of course, that same line from “Meet the Fockers” is pure comedy gold in “A Fish Called Wanda”, Jason. :)
